Born in Colombia’s Andean region in 1999, Sara María Perea began her musical training at the
age of six in the Youth Symphonic Band of Armenia. She pursued her higher education at the
Universidad del Valle, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music with an emphasis in
instrumental performance, graduating Cum Laude under the mentorship of Maestro Rafael
Rodríguez.
Throughout her career, she has participated in renowned festivals and has performed under the
baton of prominent national and international conductors. She has been a member of several
leading ensembles in Colombia, including the Valle Departmental Band and the Cali
Philharmonic Orchestra.
She was a member of the Wayra Woodwind Quintet, with whom she successfully completed a
chamber music diploma program in collaboration with the G.B. Martini Conservatory (Italy),
UNIBAC, and the Cartagena International Music Festival.
Currently, she serves as piccolo player of the Colombian National Wind Symphony Band,
where she has also performed as a soloist alongside her chamber music ensemble, Orquídea
Ensamble
