Katie Morgan is a professional flautist, born in Wales, UK, and is now based in London.
A recipient of numerous awards and prizes including international competitions, Katie is is currently completing a recording project of music for flute. Although primarily a soloist, Katie has experience of chamber and orchestral work, performing at prestigious international concert venues, and is much in demand by composers to record their music. Katie is the proud owner of a TJ frosted gold alto flute.
Katie studied flute in London at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music, and was awarded a 1st-class in flute performance. Her principal study teachers were international flautists, Jonathan Snowden, Paul Edmund-Davies, Chris Hankin, Katy Gainham, and Averil Williams. In the context of masterclasses and International Summer Schools, Katie also studied with the eminent flautists, William Bennett, Emmanuel Pahud, Robert Dick, Ian Clarke, David Heath, and Mike Mower.
In addition to being a professional flautist holding traditional Music qualifications, Kate’s eclectic interests have also subsequently led her to follow a parallel career in journalism and academia. Katie has worked as a freelance music writer for the BBC, and also holds a Masters Degree in Law from Queen Mary University, London.
